Surfing in Oahu is a popular activity, with the island serving up some of Hawaii's best and most easily accessible surf beaches. With the state capital, Honolulu, occupying the lower section of the island, many surf beaches are accessible from the inner city itself, including the world famous Waikiki Beach.
Waikiki Beach, a popular resort beach, has one of the longest rolling breaks on the island. Popular with beginners, longboarders and tandem surfers, the beach is an ideal surfing spot for those wishing to regain familiarity with surfing, or just get into the swing of things before a more lengthy surfing session.
Oahu's North Shore is home to some of the largest waves on offer in winter, and is world famous for its surf spots. Banzai Pipeline is one of the worlds most challenging and exciting waves, and recommended only for experienced surfers. Waimea Bay is popular with surfers and windsurfers alike. Surf rentals are available on many of the popular beaches.
