Kauai offers some of Hawaii's most pristine and untouched surf beaches. While many tour operators can point you towards the most popular beach spots and surf breaks, the island is relatively untouched compared to the others. Home to just 63,000 people, Kauai is renowned for its laid back attitude and fantastic beaches.
Kauai's South Shore has a number of popular surf beaches, serving up some of the best surf on the island. Board rentals are available from many tourist operators on the island, and many surf clubs can set you up with a board for a number of days if required. Polihale Beach, on the west of the island, is one of the most well known beaches on offer, and a popular surfing and swimming spot. Be sure to take caution on the island's beaches -- often the lava rock can run right down to the shore itself, and present a slippery hazard for surfers.
