Maui is most well known for its surf beaches, but it also has many snorkeling sites on offer for the adventurous tourist. Home to Molokini Crater, a partially sunk ancient volcano, and Kapalau Bay, a well known sandy bay, it's the perfect island to relax on while viewing exotic fish, green sea turtles, and extensive coral reefs. With some of Hawaii's most developed tourist infrastructure, the island is very easily accessible for tourists both domestic and international.
Molokini Crater, a partially sunken volcano cone, is located just 3 miles from the coast of Maui. Home to almost 150 different varieties of fish, many of which are native to the Hawaiian islands, the crater is one of the most well known and highly regarded snorkeling sites in Hawaii. The area is accessible by boat from Maui, with many tour operators available to arrange a trip.
Kapalua Bay is a snorkeling beach popular with locals and visitors alike. With a lush, sandy beach, the northern end of the beach is an ideal snorkeling location for beginners.
