Offering some of the most pristine and untouched bays in Hawaii, Lanai is a great destination for an adventurous snorkeling trip. While the island has very little developed tourist infrastructure, adventurous travellers can rent a four wheel drive and access the snorkeling bays and beaches at their own accord.
Menele Bay is a recommended snorkeling destination. Home to one of the most impressive coral reefs on Lanai, the bay is accessible by four wheel drive, or on foot from one of the nearby hotels. Hulopo'e Beach is another highly recommended snorkeling destination located nearby to the hotel area.
There are many untouched bays and beaches on Lanai available to snorkelers or surfers, however they are difficult to access without private transport. If you can rent a four wheel drive, it may be worth checking out a map of the island to search out the ultimate private snorkeling spot.
